KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 2): Northern Solar Holdings Bhd (KL:NORTHERN) on Tuesday secured a RM20.5 million contract from FDIGS Makmur Sdn Bhd to develop a ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) asset with battery system in Pahang.
The engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) contract involves a 5MW self-consumption (Selco) solar PV system integrated with a 10MWh battery energy storage system (Bess).
FDIGS Makmur, a Pahang-based aquaculture firm and subsidiary of FDI Global Sdn Bhd, operates tiger prawn farming and export operations. The company also has strategic partnerships with the Pahang state government on sustainable aquaculture projects.
“This RM20.5 million contract adds to our growing order book and highlights Northern Solar’s readiness to capture new opportunities in ground-mounted Selco and storage solutions,” Northern Solar managing director Lew Shoong Kai said in a statement.
“We see this as an exciting growth frontier complementing our core C&I [commercial and industrial] solar projects, while also building capacity for larger-scale initiatives in Malaysia’s renewable energy roadmap,” Lew said.
The project, among the early adopters of ground-mounted Selco under Malaysia’s expanded 2025 policy framework, is expected to generate 6.68 million kWh of clean electricity annually, enabling FDIGS Makmur to achieve projected savings of RM3.93 million per year.
Shares in Northern Solar closed two sen or 2.78% higher to 74 sen on Tuesday, giving the ACE Market group a market capitalisation of RM292.74 million.
