KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 27): QL Resources Bhd's (KL:QL) net profit slipped 6.36% year-on-year in the first quarter despite higher revenue, on weaker contributions from all segments except palm oil and clean energy.
The group’s net profit in the quarter ended June 30, 2025 (1QFY2026) came in at RM100.6 million, from RM107.43 million a year earlier, a filing showed. Earnings per share came in lower at 2.76 sen, from 2.94 sen in 1QFY2025.
No dividend was announced for the quarter.
While palm oil activities were steady, the group’s latest quarterly results also included green energy player Plus Xnergy Holdings, and higher solar project delivery by 53.1% indirect-owned unit BM Greentech Bhd (KL:BMGREEN).
The QL group, whose biggest earner is poultry and livestock farming, also produces marine products, both of which experienced margin compression due to lower prices.
It also operates a convenience store chain as the master franchisee of FamilyMart, which experienced higher operating expenses in the quarter, as it added seven Family Mart stores and eight FamilyMart Mini stores.
Group revenue rose 5.99% to RM1.72 billion, from RM1.62 billion a year earlier, as total sales volumes rose except for marine products.
On prospects, the group is upbeat that egg demand and prices will rebound to cushion the impact of egg cost subsidy removal.
Shares of QL Resources settled down two sen or 0.48% at RM4.15 on Wednesday, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM15.15 billion. The stock is hovering near its one-year low.
