KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 21): Pos Malaysia Bhd (KL:POS) logged a narrower net loss year-on-year (y-o-y) for the second quarter as its core postal operations saw higher courier volume in tandem with lower operating costs.
Net loss for the three months ended June 30, 2025 (2QFY2025) shrunk to RM45.42 million from RM55.92 million in 2QFY2024, the national postal group’s bourse filing on Thursday showed.
Still, the company remained in the red — it has been loss-making since the 2QFY2019.
Quarterly revenue was largely flat with a 0.4% y-o-y dip to RM441.57 million from RM443.43 million, as gains under the postal and aviation segment were offset by a decline in the logistics segment.
No dividend was declared for the quarter. Shareholder equity stood at RM204.27 million as at end-June 2025, while share capital came in at RM1.07 billion.
Times are expected to remain tough for the postal group. Pos Malaysia said its postal segment continues to face significant headwinds, impacted by structural declines in mail volumes and an intensely competitive, challenging regulatory courier landscape.
Nonetheless, it noted the y-o-y uptick in parcel volumes in 2QFY2025 as well as benefits from its continued integration of mail and parcel operations.
“Pos Malaysia is now advancing the next phase of its transformation agenda that focuses on long-term financial sustainability through regulatory reform and business model evolution,” it said.
“Acknowledging this difficult and dynamic external landscape, the outlook for FY2025 remains challenging,” it added.
Shares in Pos Malaysia ended 1.5 sen or 5.88% higher at 27 sen on Thursday, valuing the group at RM211.35 million.
