KUALA LUMPUR (July 28): Zetrix AI Bhd (KL:ZETRIX), formerly known as MyEG Services Bhd, is no longer involved in the renewal of foreign worker permits.
The company’s contract with the government ended following finalisation of a six-year contract with Bestinet Sdn Bhd for the use of the Foreign Workers Centralised Management System (FWCMS), according to the latest report released by the bipartisan Public Accounts Committee on Monday.
“We did engage with MyEG, and we also had an evaluation committee,” Dr Hebat Hisham Mohd Yusoff, an official with the Home Ministry, was cited as saying in the report during one of the PAC proceedings. “Within that committee, a decision was made not to extend the contract.”
MyEG, up until its change of name to Zetrix AI earlier this month, has yet to announce the end of the contract. The effective date of the decision was not mentioned in the report.
The company also has yet to respond to The Edge's request for comment.
Hebat Hisham, the deputy divisional secretary of the immigration affairs division, noted that the contract with MyEG was structured as a one-plus-one-year arrangement rather than a fixed two-year term. As such, the government had the prerogative whether or not to exercise the option to extend.
The Home Ministry's deputy secretary general (policy and control), Datuk Makhzan Mahyuddin, also confirmed that he had officially informed the Immigration Department of the decision, which subsequently notified MyEG.
“We hope there will be no legal action from MyEG, as we have followed the proper procedures,” Makhzan said during the same proceeding.
MyEG’s three-year concession for immigration-related services was initially scheduled to end in May 2023. The company later disclosed that it had received a July 4, 2023 letter from the Home Ministry confirming that the Ministry of Finance had agreed in principle to extend the concession.
The company then announced in an exchange filing that the Home Ministry had on Oct 16, 2023 decided to extend the immigration related services for two years.
Meanwhile, Makhzan also said that the use of the FWCMS has been made exclusive for the application of the ePASS starting February this year.
Employers previously had multiple channels, including MyEG and the Immigration Department’s own system, to submit ePASS applications. “However, under the new contract, all applications must now go through the FWCMS, with no other alternatives,” he said.
The exclusivity arrangement explains why Bestinet’s collections prior to February were relatively low, as employers still had other options at the time, Makhzan noted.
In its latest report, the PAC said the Home Ministry informed the committee that a total of RM86.3 million in claims from Bestinet had been submitted for verification as of May 19, 2025.
Of this amount, RM12.7 million has already been paid for services rendered between November 2024 and February 2025, while the remaining RM73.5 million — covering claims for March and April 2025 — is still being processed.
