KUALA LUMPUR (June 9): 99 Speed Mart Retail Holdings Bhd (KL:99SMART) could see a boost of up to 5.8% to its revenue from 2025 to 2027 following the minimart chain operator’s move to extend operating hours.
Before the extension, only 10-15% of its stores were operating with the additional one hour, according to CIMB Securities’ estimates, and the announcement would standardise the new hours across all locations, lifting overall same-store sales growth.
“We view this development positively, as we believe that extended operating hours should enhance consumer convenience and boost revenue per store,” CIMB Securities said in a note.
Last week, 99 Speed Mart announced that its stores will open their doors at 9am instead of 10am for customer convenience in line with evolving shopping patterns following the company’s annual general meeting.
99 Speed Mart has more than 2,800 stores nationwide.
CIMB Securities projects the mini-market retail operator’s core net profit to grow 11.9% in 2025, supported by an 8.8% rise in revenue.
Growth will be driven by same-store sales growth of 1.4%, which provides insights into how well customers are responding to existing stores and operations, and a net increase of 250 stores.
CIMB Securities maintains its ‘buy’ call on the stock, citing 99 Speedmart’s strong market share in the mini-market retail segment.
According to Bloomberg data, eight out of 10 research houses covering the stock have a ‘buy’ rating while two have ‘hold’ recommendations. The average 12-month target price is RM2.57.
