KUALA LUMPUR (June 3): Healthcare provider Qualitas Health Group has appointed Datuk Muhamad Umar Swift as its new chief executive officer effective immediately.
Muhamad Umar, the former chief executive of Bursa Malaysia Bhd (KL:BURSA), will oversee operations in Malaysia, Singapore and Australia while exploring new markets in Asean, according to a statement from Qualitas. He will also scale the company’s network and strengthen partnerships.
“I’m truly honoured to join Qualitas at this pivotal moment,” said Muhamad Umar.
Datuk Dr Noorul Ameen Mohamed Ishack, who was Qualitas’ previous CEO, will continue his role as executive chairman while providing guidance to the company.
Muhamad Umar, who turned 60 this year, retired in March after six years at Bursa. Prior to his stint at Bursa, his experience include leading insurer MAA Group Bhd (KL:MAA) and utility Gas Malaysia Bhd (KL:GASMSIA). He was trained as an economist at Monash University in Australia.
“Bringing Umar on board marks an exciting turning point for us,” said Noorul Ameen.
Founded in 1997, Qualitas Health's operations span Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, and Bangladesh.
