PETALING JAYA (June 3): Negeri Sembilan is in talks with potential Chinese investors to develop a biotechnology hub in the state as part of its strategy to diversify high-impact sectors under the Malaysia Vision Valley (MVV) 2.0 development framework.
Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun said the state is in talks with a China-based group interested in investing in the biotech sector.
He did not name the investor but said the plans involve 166 hectares of land in Bandar Enstek and state-backed infrastructure support.
“We will provide the necessary support to facilitate the investment, especially in terms of land and utility infrastructure,” Aminuddin told reporters following the Negeri Sembilan: The Next Smart Frontier luncheon hosted by MIDF Research, a unit of MBSB Bhd (KL:MBSB).
“We are discussing with a group from China to establish a biotech zone in Negeri Sembilan. The area will be developed as a fresh and productive hub, with future potential to serve regional and international markets,” he added.
The planned biotech investment supports Negeri Sembilan’s strategy to expand beyond manufacturing and logistics into high-value sectors like biotech, green energy, and digital tech.
Under its MVV 2.0 plan — a 30-year blueprint to develop Seremban and Port Dickson — the state is creating six key development zones, including Hamilton Tech Park (Parcel A), Smart County in Labu (Parcel B) and NS Semiconductor Valley in Senawang (Parcel F).
The area is well-positioned with existing industry infrastructure and is close to KLIA and the proposed AI Smart Container Port in Port Dickson.
Negeri Sembilan recorded RM7.25 billion in approved investments in 2024 and aims to grow further by diversifying into strategic sectors. The biotech push also aligns with the federal New Industrial Master Plan 2030, which highlights healthtech and biomanufacturing as key future industries.
