KUALA LUMPUR (April 29): Digital services provider MyEG Services Bhd (KL:MYEG) announced on Tuesday the launch of the Malaysia Blockchain Infrastructure (MBI), a national platform developed in collaboration with MIMOS Technology Solutions Sdn Bhd, that aims to foster blockchain innovation and streamline the integration of digital assets across various industries in Malaysia.

In a joint statement, MyEG and MIMOS, a strategic agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, described the fully operational MBI platform as a "neutral and trusted platform", designed to serve as the backbone for blockchain-based services in both the public and private sectors.

“MBI will drive competitiveness, positioning Malaysia as a regional leader in blockchain adoption and development, potentially attracting investment and highly skilled talent. More importantly, it embodies digital inclusivity, making blockchain technology accessible to all Malaysians, regardless of their technical expertise,” said MIMOS acting president and group chief executive officer Dr Saat Shukri Embong.

MBI is built on Zetrix, MyEG’s proprietary Layer-1 blockchain platform, and integrates with other public blockchains like ethereum and solana to provide cross-chain interoperability through a single interface.

This unified access eliminates the need for users to navigate multiple platforms, enabling seamless blockchain application development, particularly for sectors such as supply chain, identity management, asset tokenisation, and decentralised finance.

“MBI is redefining how we interact with blockchain technology. By offering unified access across platforms, MBI simplifies cross-chain transactions, enhancing liquidity and streamlining access to decentralised applications," the statement read.

The platform’s early adopters include Masverse, Cokeeps, iTrace, and HeiTech Padu Bhd (KL:HTPADU), which are deploying blockchain solutions for supply chain traceability, digital ID, and asset custody. Use cases such as MyDigitalID will benefit from MBI’s capabilities in verifiability, accessibility, and interoperability — from simple event registration to complex cross-border authentication.

The initiative aims to bridge the digital divide, enabling broader participation in blockchain innovation regardless of technical background, while driving transparency, trust, and efficiency in digital transactions, according to the two entities.

MyEG’s Zetrix blockchain will serve as the main infrastructure for the MBI, facilitating blockchain-based identifiers, verifiable credentials, and other Web3 building blocks. The system is also designed to support interoperability with China’s blockchain ecosystem, enabling cross-border blockchain integration.

MyEG shares slipped one sen or 1.1% to close at 90 sen on Tuesday, valuing the company at RM6.92 billion.
