KUALA LUMPUR (April 24): Texchem Resources Bhd (KL:TEXCHEM) returned to profitability after suffering a loss in the same quarter a year ago, driven by a turnaround in its restaurant division and improved earnings across all segments, except for its industrial division.

The group’s operations include industrial, polymer engineering, food, restaurants and venture business.

Net profit for the three months ended March 31, 2025 (1QFY2025) stood at RM870,000 compared to a net loss of RM1.34 million a year ago, the Sushi King’s owner said in a filing on Thursday.

Earnings per share amounted to 0.74 sen in 1QFY2025 while it posted a loss per share of 1.14 sen in 1QFY2024.

Revenue for the quarter rose marginally by 2.45% to RM282.41 million from RM275.65 million previously.

No dividend was declared for the quarter. The company last declared a dividend of 13 sen per share in FY2022.

"Heightened geopolitical tensions and threats of restrictive trade policies continue to pose significant market volatility and challenges to the complex business environment," the company said.

"Closing with a strong quarter, the group seeks to deliver both revenue and bottom-line growth with operational decisions guided by market developments and economic conditions," it added.

Shares of Texchem closed half a sen or 0.6% lower at 82.5 sen on Thursday, valuing the company at RM104.3 million.
