Khee San Bhd said its its manufacturing facilities are affected by the gas supply disruption in Putra Heights and has implemented contingency measures to maintain critical operations, and has sufficient inventories to meet demand until Gas Malaysia Bhd’s curtailment deadline of April 20.

KUALA LUMPUR (April 7): Candy maker Khee San Bhd (KL:KHEESAN) said its manufacturing facilities have been affected by the gas supply disruption caused by the recent pipeline explosion in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya.

Nonetheless, the company has implemented contingency measures to maintain critical operations, and has sufficient inventories to meet demand until Gas Malaysia Bhd’s (KL:GASMSIA) curtailment deadline of April 20, said Khee San in a statement on Monday.

Khee San therefore does not expect any material impact on its overall operations or financial performance due to the gas supply disruption.

“Our management team at Khee San Food Industries Sdn Bhd is actively working to manage disruptions to our supply chain and customer deliveries during this period,” the company added.

Khee San executive chairman Yong Loong Chen said the company recognised the significant impact the gas supply disruption has had on its business partners and customers.

“We have implemented our business continuity plan and are exploring alternative solutions to fulfil our commitments,” he added.

Gas Malaysia on Monday announced additional areas — including Merbau, Tronoh, Perai, Junjung, and Hutan Melintang — that will experience gas supply curtailments due to ongoing operational issues following the April 1 gas pipeline explosion.

Along with the previously announced areas — Shah Alam, Kundang, Petaling Jaya, Teluk Panglima Garang, Port Klang, and Pulau Indah — they will face disruptions until April 20.

Shares in Khee San ended one sen or 3.51% higher at 29.5 sen, valuing the group at RM41.22 million.
