SHAH ALAM (April 3): Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has reiterated that the state government is prioritising the welfare of the victims affected by the gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya.

His statement follows a call by Selangor opposition leader Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali, who urged a special session of the state assembly to address the incident.

“This is not the time for debate. Our focus is on resolving the situation and addressing safety concerns.

“The state assembly will meet in July and we will have plenty of time to discuss it properly,” he told a press conference at the Selangor State Secretary (SUK) building here on Thursday.

Azmin, representing the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition, has called for an independent investigation into the cause of the fire and suggested measures to prevent future occurrences.

The fire, which erupted at 8.10am on Tuesday, destroyed homes and vehicles within a 500-metre radius.

Hundreds of residents have been displaced and are staying in temporary shelters, while dozens are receiving medical treatment for injuries.
