Gas pipeline blaze: Gas Malaysia reduces supply to some areas but assures no major impact on FY2025 earnings

KUALA LUMPUR (April 2): Gas Malaysia Bhd (KL:GASMSIA) on Wednesday said it has cut back on gas supply to several areas to manage supply disruptions brought about by the temporary closure of gas facilities due to the gas pipeline blaze incident in Putra Heights on April 1, assuring that it will not have a material impact on earnings this financial year.

The company, in a statement, said a gas supply curtailment has been implemented to several customers in Shah Alam, Kundang, Petaling Jaya, Teluk Panglima Garang, Pelabuhan Klang, Pulau Indah and other areas.

"The affected customers were notified earlier, and the group will continue to provide updates on the situation’s progress," Gas Malaysia said.

The group acknowledged the challenges faced by its customers and is working with gas suppliers and authorities to minimise disruptions.

Gas Malaysia emphasised that safety and operational integrity remain its top priorities, with resources deployed to closely monitor the situation.

Gas Malaysia's share price which opened 0.9% lower at RM4.27 after its one-hour trading halt in the morning, rebounded to close 1.16% higher to RM4.36 a share, giving it a market capitalisation of almost RM5.6 billion. Year-to-date the stock is up 1.63%.
