Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz says the Investor Pass is a key component of the government’s initiatives under the New Industrial Master Plan 2030, aimed at attracting investment, streamlining bureaucracy, and enhancing business convenience.

KUALA LUMPUR (March 28): The Malaysian Investment Development Authority (Mida) will introduce a new Investor Pass for foreign investors starting April 1, enabling them to stay in the country for six months, with the option for a further six-month extension.

This Investor Pass is tailored for three distinct categories of foreign investors: those investing in Malaysia for the first time; investors whose projects are under consideration (those engaged in discussions with the government or awaiting project approvals); and existing investors (those affiliated with Malaysian companies, excluding local employees).

The pass will include a multiple-entry visa to facilitate easier cross-border travel, and the application process is designed for swift approval by the Immigration Department, taking only five working days.

In a statement released on Friday, Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz said the Investor Pass is a key component of the government’s initiatives under the New Industrial Master Plan 2030, aimed at attracting investment, streamlining bureaucracy, and enhancing business convenience.

"The Investor Pass is a strategic step in that direction, facilitating seamless entry into Malaysia for both existing and new investors," he said.

Mida chief executive officer Datuk Sikh Shamsul Ibrahim said the pass provides a structured and efficient entry process, minimising potential delays for investors.

"This initiative ensures that those serious about investing in Malaysia can do so with greater certainty," he noted.

Applications for the Investor Pass can be submitted through the Xpats Gateway system at https://xpatsgateway.com.my/. Further details are available on the MIDA website at https://www.mida.gov.my/.
