KUALA LUMPUR (March 14): BRDB has acquired land at Wisma Damansara, Kuala Lumpur for a mixed-use development and will partner with British design firm Heatherwick Studio to design the integrated residential, retail and community spaces project that will promote a people-centred living environment.
“This partnership with Heatherwick Studio marks a transformative moment for BRDB and Malaysian architecture. This development is not just about redefining the skyline of Damansara Heights; it’s about rethinking how people engage with urban spaces,” said BRDB executive chairman Datuk Seri Akbar Khan in a press statement on Thursday (March 13).
The land was formerly owned by Selangor Properties Sdn Bhd and measures 7.98 acres. The purchase price and its gross development value will be provided at a later date.
Strategically located near MRT Semantan, the development will serve as a gateway between Damansara Heights and Kuala Lumpur’s city centre. The retail component will blend indoor and outdoor spaces with natural landscapes, fostering social engagement and wellness.
Heatherwick Studio, known for projects such as Azabudai Hills in Tokyo and Little Island in New York, will apply its design expertise in Malaysia for the first time. “We are thrilled to partner with BRDB for our first project in Malaysia. This is an exciting time in the region, and we hope to bring a joyful and impactful community hub to Damansara,” said Heatherwick Studio founder Thomas Heatherwick.
The project is set to reinforce BRDB’s commitment to quality, innovation, and timeless design, contributing to the evolution of urban living in Kuala Lumpur.
