KUALA LUMPUR (March 12): Talent Corporation Malaysia Bhd (TalentCorp) and Selangor are working together to roll out an outreach programme that aims to provide grassroots engagement, skills development, and workforce reintegration support for women across all levels.

Spanning 56 constituencies in Selangor, Jelajah Wanita MyWira will run until November, connecting women with career opportunities, workforce incentives, and employability programmes, according to a joint statement by TalentCorp and the Selangor state agency Wanita Berdaya Selangor Sdn Bhd.

Plans are also in place to expand the initiative to Penang, Johor, Sabah, and Sarawak.

TalentCorp is committed to supporting women’s workforce participation and career reintegration under the Wanita MyWira initiative, said its chief executive officer Thomas Mathew.

“With Career Comeback Programme tax exemptions and hiring incentives in Budget 2024 and 2025, both women and employers benefit, cultivating a more inclusive and sustainable workforce, further strengthened by our sector-based, industry-led MyMahir Future Skills Talent Council,” he said.

The partnership with Wanita Berdaya Selangor extends these opportunities to grassroots communities, enabling more women to resume meaningful careers and contribute to the economy, Matthew added.

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed between TalentCorp and Wanita Berdaya Selangor at the Wanita MyWira Convention 2025 on Tuesday (March 11), witnessed by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, and Minister of Human Resources Steven Sim Chee Keong. Also present was Selangor’s state executive councillor for women development and social welfare Anfaal Saari.

TalentCorp and Wanita Berdaya Selangor will also work closely with industry partners to create job placement opportunities, ensuring a tangible pathway to better careers. The initiative aligns with the government’s ambition to raise female labour force participation to 60% by 2030, reinforcing women’s role in driving Malaysia’s economic growth.

Sim reaffirmed the government’s commitment to bridging gender gaps in employment, highlighting Jelajah Wanita MyWira as a platform to coordinate women’s empowerment initiatives under TalentCorp, including the Career Comeback Programme.

“We must ensure women have equal opportunities to rejoin and excel in the workforce,” he said.  “Through Jelajah Wanita MyWira, we aim to empower 1.4 million women in Selangor by providing direct access to empowerment opportunities and employment incentives.”
