KUALA LUMPUR (March 7): UEM Edgenta Bhd (KL:EDGENTA) has secured a three-year extension to its concession agreement with the government to provide hospital support services at contract hospitals in Perak, Penang, Kedah and Perlis.
The current agreement, which began on April 1, 2015, is set to expire on March 31, 2025.
The company did not disclose the value of the contract extension in its filing with Bursa Malaysia earlier.
Under the extension, its subsidiary, Edgenta Mediserve Sdn Bhd, will continue providing services from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2028, with an option for two additional one-year extensions.
The formal interim agreement will be executed in due course.
Non-clinical healthcare support services company UEM Edgenta serves over 250 healthcare institutions in Malaysia, Singapore and Taiwan.
It serves more than 60 hospitals and healthcare institutions in Malaysia alone.
The company reported a 66.3% rise in net profit to RM51.75 million for FY2024, up from RM31.11 million. Revenue also grew 5.8% to RM3.05 billion, driven by international business expansion, contract renewals, new contract wins and cost management efforts.
UEM Edgenta's shares closed down 0.6% to 78.5 sen on Friday for a market capitalisation of RM653 million.
