KUALA LUMPUR (March 5): The Ministry of Finance (MOF) has confirmed that a civil servant was found dead at its complex on Wednesday, following a police report of an unconscious man found in the Treasury Office.

In a brief statement on Wednesday, the MOF expressed condolences to the victim’s family.

“MOF is deeply saddened by this incident and extends its sympathies to the family of the deceased. MOF is cooperating fully with the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) in their investigation,” the statement read.

The victim, a 45-year-old staff member, was confirmed dead at the scene, though no criminal elements were discovered. The police have classified the case as a Sudden Death Report (SDR).

Earlier, Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Seri Rusdi Mohd Isa said in a statement that authorities received a call through the MERS 999 emergency line at 10.56am. A team from the Putrajaya District Police Headquarters (IPD Putrajaya) was dispatched to the scene.

“Upon initial inspection, the deceased was found lying on the office floor with cable ties around his neck and feet,” the statement said.

Rusdi said the body has been sent to the Forensic and Pathology Department at Hospital Putrajaya for a post-mortem examination. Police have also secured CCTV footage at the building and are in the midst of investigations.
