KUCHING (March 5): Sarawak Energy Bhd (SEB) and Indonesia’s national electricity provider Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) have discussed potential future cross-border energy initiatives to enhance regional energy security and support Asean’s power grid aspirations during SEB’s business mission to Jakarta, Indonesia, recently.

SEB said in a statement on Wednesday that as the company continues its ambition to be a regional powerhouse, the business mission also provided an opportunity to strengthen relationships with key stakeholders in Indonesia, and reaffirms its commitment to sustainable energy solutions and cross-border collaboration.

“The Ministry of Utility and Telecommunication of Sarawak and SEB successfully concluded a business mission to Jakarta, reinforcing Sarawak’s commitment to regional energy partnerships.

“During a visit to PLN at its corporate office, the Sarawak delegation met with PLN president director Darmawan Prasodjo, and engaged in dialogues on future projects, reaffirming their commitment to working together for the mutual advancement of Malaysia and Indonesia,” it said.

According to the statement, the delegation also introduced its flagship biennial event, the Sustainability and Renewable Energy Forum, that will be held in September and bring together industry leaders and policymakers to further discussions on cross-border collaboration and sustainable energy solutions.

The delegation was led by Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Sarawak Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, SEB chairman Datuk Ibrahim Baki, and SEB group chief executive officer Datuk Sharbini Suhaili.
