KUALA LUMPUR (March 5): Total unclaimed money (WTD) in Malaysia stands at RM12.7 billion as of Jan 31 this year, according to the Ministry of Finance (MOF).
This was revealed by the ministry in a written parliamentary reply to Kesavan Subramaniam (Pakatan Harapan–Sungai Siput) on Tuesday (March 4).
Eligible individuals or heirs can claim their funds online via eGUMIS, or visit any State Accountant General’s Department (JANM) counter.
WTD includes three categories: funds owed to individuals but unpaid for over a year, such as salaries and insurance claims; inactive accounts not operated for at least seven years, and dormant trade accounts with no activity for over two years.
The MOF said JANM has taken steps to raise awareness through campaigns, online briefings, and TV announcements.
JANM also offers services at 24 counters nationwide, with additional locations in Putrajaya and Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) Pudu.
