KUALA LUMPUR (March 3): Petra Energy Bhd (KL:PENERGY) has announced the appointment of Tan Sri Ahmad Nizam Salleh as its new independent and non-executive chairman, effective immediately.

With a distinguished career spanning more than four decades, he has held several key leadership roles at Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), including vice-president of corporate services, chairman of Petronas and managing director and CEO of Malaysia LNG Group of Companies.

Shares of Petra Energy, which primarily provides brownfield services for the upstream oil and gas sector, closed four sen or 3.01% lower at RM1.29 on Monday, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM426.9 million.
