KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 27): The International Construction Week (ICW) and the Malaysia International Building and Construction Industry Exhibition (BuildXpo) 2025 will take place from Oct 28 to 30 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre, Kuala Lumpur.

Hosted by the Works Ministry and jointly organised by Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia and Qube Integrated Malaysia Sdn Bhd, the ICW and BuildXpo 2025, with the theme "Constructing the Future of Asean", will feature 350 booths showcasing construction technologies, materials and solutions. There will also be industry conferences, roundtables and forums addressing sustainability, digital transformation and infrastructure development.

The organisers held a soft launch of the events on Feb 26.

In a statement dated Feb 26, CIDB Malaysia chairman Yusuf Abd Wahab said that the ICW and BuildXpo 2025 will unite industry leaders to explore cutting-edge solutions and strengthen regional ties while expanding opportunities for Malaysian construction firms to compete and thrive in global and emerging markets.

"The construction industry is at a turning point where embracing digital transformation and sustainable practices is no longer optional but imperative," he added.

CIDB Malaysia has also announced a Borneo edition of the ICW which will serve as a precursor to the main event in Kuala Lumpur. The inaugural ICW Borneo will take place from May 13 to 14 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching, showcasing Borneo’s construction sector, focusing on how mega projects in energy, township development and infrastructure and public works are advancing economic, environmental and social sustainability in the region.

Ministry of Works secretary general Datuk Seri Azman Ibrahim said in the statement: “As Malaysia assumes the Asean chairmanship in 2025, ICW & BuildXpo 2025 will showcase our leadership in driving a sustainable and innovative construction industry.

"This show stands as a testament to our collective efforts in addressing regional challenges within the construction landscape and its auxiliary sectors while unlocking new opportunities for growth. We are committed to building a resilient and forward-thinking construction sector for Asean."
