KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 22): Sun Bus Tech Sdn Bhd aims to drive public transport sustainability in Malaysia by targeting 49% of domestic sales, versus just 4% in 2024.

Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz praised the Malaysian bus manufacturer’s efforts to successfully penetrate the international market on a large scale.

"In 2024, 96% of sales were from abroad, and only 4% were from Malaysia.

"For 2025, they aim to raise local sales to 49%, with 51% going overseas," he said in a video on his X platform on Saturday.

Tengku Zafrul said Singapore’s Land Transport Authority is one of their international customers.

He added that Sun Bus Tech will take steps towards supplying electric-vehicle (EV) buses this year.

"With EV technology and ongoing innovation, Sun Bus Tech is paving the way for a more sustainable public transport future in Malaysia.

"I hope more local companies will follow in their footsteps," he said.
