
KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 22): Perak’s Ayer Kuning assemblyman Ishsam Shahruddin passed away on Saturday, local media reported, citing Penang police.
The 58-year-old was in Penang for the Four-Cornered Chief Minister’s Cup football championship. He was reported to have collapsed at about 5.20pm while shaking hands with other players at the side of the field, according to the Malay Mail.
The Tapah Umno chief was rushed to Penang Hospital and was pronounced dead at 6.28pm.
A former professional footballer, Ishsam started a business upon retirement and later became active in politics.
