KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 17): Kinergy Advancement Bhd’s (KL:KAB) wholly owned subsidiary KAB Energy Holdings Sdn Bhd (KABEH) is collaborating with Perbadanan Kemajuan Negeri Perak (PKNPk) for the development of 29 potential renewable energy projects in Perak, with a total capacity of over 1,800 megawatts (MW).

The energy solution provider and Perak state agency said in a joint statement that they would identify, evaluate and develop renewable energy projects in Perak by utilising KAB’s technical expertise to drive innovative energy developments.

“Aligned with Perak Sejahtera 2030's Flagship 12: Water Resources and Renewable Energy, this partnership not only enhances the energy resilience of Perak, but also contributes to the broader national goals of sustainable and renewable energy development.

“The initiatives under this collaboration directly support the objectives of increasing water resources efficiency and promoting renewable energy usage, marking a significant step towards achieving Malaysia's long-term sustainability targets,” the statement read.

KAB executive deputy chairman cum group managing director Datuk Lai Keng Onn said the partnership allows the group to offer its expertise to drive sustainable development and collaboratively explore Perak’s energy potential, with 50MW of power generation capacity projects currently in the pipeline.

“By partnering with PKNPk, we can accelerate the development of sustainable energy infrastructure, strengthening Perak’s position as a leader in Malaysia’s renewable and clean energy transition.

“This collaboration will bring transformative benefits at both the state and national levels, paving the way for a more resilient future,” he said.

Meanwhile, PKNPk chief executive Datuk Redza Rafiq Abdul Razak said as the clean energy transition accelerates, there is an urgent need for firm, flexible, and renewable power solutions and storage to balance supply and demand effectively.

“With KABEH's expertise in renewable energy and PKNPk's strategic role in driving state development, particularly in energy infrastructure and policy, we are confident that this partnership will unlock Perak's vast hydropower and solar energy potential,” he said.
