KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 3): Prolintas Infra Business Trust (KL:PLINTAS) said Datuk Mohammad Azlan Abdullah has relinquished his role as non-independent and non-executive director from its trustee-manager, Prolintas Managers Sdn Bhd.

The reason cited for resignation was due to other personal commitments, according to the bourse filing.

Separately, Prolintas Managers has redesignated its chief executive officer, Malik Parvez Ahmad Nazir Ahmad to become non-executive director.

He will serve in the trustee-manager’s risk, nomination and remuneration committee.

Pending the appointment of a new CEO, Prolintas Managers said the board has "deliberated and resolved that the interim executive management team" led by its non-executive chairman Datuk Ikmal Hijaz Hashim "would remain effective to ensure the stewardship of Prolintas Infra Business Trust will continue smoothly".

According to Prolintas’ website, Mohammad Azlan held the role of group chief executive officer of Prolintas group of companies.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) last month charged two other Prolintas officials, namely chief operating officer Rostam Shahrif Tami and project manager Zairulnizam Rohani, for bribery-related offences.

Rostam was charged with soliciting and accepting RM70,000 in bribes to award work packages for SUKE highway. He pleaded not guilty.

Zairulnizam claimed trial on Jan 23 for allegedly accepting RM50,000 in bribes in exchange for assisting a company to secure a highway construction project two years ago.

Last week, Prolintas Managers distanced itself from the graft cases and clarified that two individuals charged with corruption linked to its sponsor Projek Lintasan Kota Holdings Sdn Bhd (Prolintas), are not related to the operations of the business trust.

The MACC also reportedly arrested five individuals who own a company and allegedly offered bribes relating to highway projects.

Prolintas holds a 51.02% stake in Prolintas Infra Business Trust. Prolintas itself is wholly owned by Permodalan Nasional Bhd.

Units in Prolintas ended one sen or 1% higher at 97 sen on Monday, valuing the trust at RM1.07 billion.
