KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 28): Transportation ICT system solutions provider EVD Bhd (KL:EVD) has appointed Datuk Seri Shahril Mokhtar as non-executive chairman, effective Feb 1.

He is replacing Datuk Wong Sak Kuan, who will be redesignated as a non-independent non-executive director, according to EVD’s bourse filing on Tuesday.

Speaking on its new board addition, EVD noted that Shahril also sits on the boards of Taghill Holdings Bhd (KL:TAGHILL), and West River Bhd, a green building solutions firm looking to list on the ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia.

Over his career, the 52 year-old has also served as manager director at various companies, including Prasarana Malaysia Bhd, CSH Alliance Bhd (now known as Velocity Capital Partner Bhd (KL:VELOCITY)), highway concessionaire Sungai Klang Expressway Sdn Bhd, and Green Packet Bhd (KL:GPACKET), according to EVD.

Shahril had a two-years stint as CEO of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Corp Sdn Bhd between 2015 and 2018, overseeing the developments of MRT Line 1 and 2.

“Beyond corporate roles, he has chaired UiTM Holdings Sdn Bhd and UiTM Private Healthcare Sdn Bhd since November 2021,” it added.

EVD is a loss-making company, which posted RM2.17 million in net loss in its first quarter ended Sept 30, 2024, on the back of RM4.38 million in revenue.

The usually thinly traded counter closed unchanged at 9.5 sen on Tuesday, valuing the company at RM42.29 million.
