KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 20): Datasonic Group Bhd (KL:DSONIC) has received one-year extensions for its contracts to supply Malaysian passports and polycarbonate biodata pages to the Immigration Department of Malaysia.
The extensions came with additional contract ceilings of RM57.15 million for the passport supply contract, and RM93.3 million for the polycarbonate biodata pages supply contract, according to the integrated information and communications technology solution provider in a bourse filing on Monday.
The extensions for both contracts are effective from Dec 1, 2024 to Nov 30, 2025. These are the contracts' fourth extensions awarded by the Home Ministry.
Datasonic was initially awarded a five-year passport supply contract worth RM223.38 million in April 2016. The polycarbonate biodata pages contract worth RM270.71 million was initially awarded in April 2018 for a 46-month tenure.
Following both jobs' expiration, Datasonic was granted its first extensions spanning two years, effective until December 2023.
The first extensions carried additional contract ceilings of RM25.33 million for the passport supply contract, and RM49.43 million for the biodata pages.
Subsequently, the contracts’ second extensions were given in January 2024, spanning six months from December 2023 to May 2024.

The third extension, spanning six months, was given for both contracts, pushing their tenure from June 1, 2024 to Nov 30, 2024.
The additional contract ceilings were RM29.81 million for passport documents, and RM52.7 million for the polycarbonate biodata pages, for the third extension.
Shares in Datasonic ended half a sen or 1.27% higher at 40 sen on Monday, valuing the group at RM1.16 billion.
