KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 16): Sedania Innovator Bhd (KL:SEDANIA), which provides sustainable energy solutions as well as premium personal care and food supplements under the Tanamera brand, has hired Darren Choy to lead its fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) business.

Choy, who was formerly the managing director of Warner Music Malaysia and Singapore, as well as Adidas Malaysia and Singapore, will succeed Ng Hock Guan, who has stepped down as Sedania's FMCG Group chief executive officer due to personal commitments.

Choy was also previously the chief marketing officer of Lotus Racing F1 Team, and the MD of EMI Music Malaysia.

“Darren’s achievements as MD of Adidas Malaysia and Singapore — a global lifestyle brand that aligns perfectly with Offspring and Tanamera’s aspiration to become the top lifestyle choice for mothers, women and families worldwide,” said Sedania founder and managing director Datuk Azrin Mohd Noor.

Sedania acquired a 51% stake in Tanamera Group Sdn Bhd for RM8.18 million in 2023 to broaden its sustainable healthcare products business. As for Offspring — a brand under Offspring Inc — the group provides early childcare products such as baby diapers, wet wipes and skincare made of organic and biodegradable materials.

“What truly excites me, however, is Darren’s exceptional track record in the highly competitive music industry, most recently as MD of Warner Music. An industry defined by fierce competition, rapidly changing consumer preferences, and constant technological evolution, Darren excelled in navigating these challenges," said Azrin.

"This track record gives me great confidence that his strategic foresight and marketing expertise will propel Sedania's FMCG Group to new heights," he added.

Shares of Sedania rose one sen or 8% to close at 13.5 sen on Thursday, giving the company a market capitalisation of RM49.32 million.
