KUALA LUMPUR (Jan 12): Renowned cosmetics tycoon and newly minted executive chairman of The Body Shop, Mike Jatania, is setting his sights on revitalising the brand’s core values and reinstating its image as the face of sustainable beauty.

Once a trailblazer in ethical cosmetics, the company fell on hard times following a series of acquisitions, but Jatania and his firm Aurea saw beyond its troubles and resonated with its founder’s empowering story. He talks about his industry insights, as well as plans to strengthen The Body Shop and bring it into the 21st century by offering inclusive and eco-friendly products and putting consumers first.

Singaporean artist Nur Aisha Sa’ad is using the medium of drawing to express herself and transcend her barriers to communication. Diagnosed with severe autism spectrum disorder, this youngest of four creates colourful illustrations of animals, fruits, flowers and inanimate objects, each with her signature trio of beady eyes and a squiggly, toothy mouth. These pieces, affectionately referred to as “monsters”, were featured at her exhibition titled The Monster Zoo last month.
