KUANTAN (Dec 21): Pahang Islamic Affairs, Rural Development, and Orang Asli Affairs Committee chairman Datuk Seri Syed Ibrahim Syed Ahmad has confirmed that a video alleging the allocation of durian plantation land in Pahang to retired soldiers is fake.

Syed Ibrahim, who represented Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail at the event, clarified that the video involved the handover of land rights to 600 Temerloh residents under Skim Tanah Rakyat (STR), which had previously been shared on social media.

He explained that the ceremony was held after the state government approved the STR applications.

"Therefore, what the individual claimed may be a misunderstanding or lack of knowledge of the true situation," he said when contacted by Bernama on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Pahang Land and Mines director Datuk Hamdan Hussin verified that the video depicted the handover of STR land titles for the Temerloh district on Dec 1.

He added that the ceremony, led by Syed Ibrahim, included land rights for residents of Kampung Sokmek, Kampung Kuala Kaung, Kampung Sungai Juru, Kampung Sungai Jenalik, Kampung Sungai Jentar, Kampung Pangsenam, and Kampung Bintang.

Earlier, a nearly two-minute video went viral, claiming that the Pahang government had allocated two acres of durian plantation land per person to retired soldiers, who had previously cultivated the land.
