KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 16): Berjaya Land Bhd (KL:BJLAND), through its subsidiary BHR Okinawa Management GK, has signed an agreement with IHG ANA Hotels Group Japan to operate its existing ANSA Okinawa Resort in Okinawa, Japan. The 123-room hotel will be rebranded from ANSA Okinawa Resort to ANA Crowne Plaza Resort Okinawa Uruma Hills effective early January next year.
In the statement, Berjaya Land group CEO Syed Ali Shahul Hameed said, “The rebranding of ANSA Okinawa Resort to ANA Crowne Plaza Resort Okinawa Uruma Hills marks an exciting milestone, aligning with IHG’s exceptional standards and international network.
“This strategic move is poised to unlock new opportunities, elevate guest experiences and deliver substantial benefits as the property integrates into the IHG system. With our extensive expansion plans in Japan, we are committed to strengthening our footprint across the country and further solidifying our successful partnership with IHG.”
Also commenting on the partnership, IHG ANA Hotels Group Japan CEO and IHG Hotels & Resorts Japan and Micronesia managing director Abhijay Sandilya said, “With plans to double our portfolio in Japan, this signing with Berjaya Land is another important milestone for IHG in realising our ambition.
“As part of the portfolio of one of the world’s largest premium hotel brands and largest international premium brand in Japan, ANA Crowne Plaza Resort Okinawa Uruma Hills will benefit from IHG’s powerful global presence, enabling it to attract new guests and deliver strong returns.”
The hotel, which offers facilities such as an outdoor swimming pool, gymnasium, karaoke room, bar, meeting and ballroom, is located within close proximity to golf courses and cultural sites including the Zakimi Gusuku Castle and Onna-son Community Centre. The property is also a 45-minute drive from Naha International Airport in Okinawa.
