KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 16): TNG Digital Sdn Bhd urges users to verify their TNG eWallet accounts for better security, according to its statement on Monday.

Users can complete verification by uploading their ID such as MyKad or MyTentera, and a selfie through the electronic Know-Your-Customer (eKYC) technology, which is a digital identity verification process, read the statement.

TNG eWallet currently has over 28 million registered users, with more than 22 million having already completed their account verification.

“The eKYC account verification plays a vital role in creating a secure and trusted digital ecosystem by reducing risks such as fraud, unauthorised access, as well as mule accounts.

“To protect the majority of our verified users, it is important for all remaining non-verified users to complete their verification.”

From Dec 20, 2024, new TNG eWallet users must complete account verification upon registering, it added.

Unverified users will receive a message prompting them to verify their accounts. Until the process is completed, further actions on the app will be blocked, read the statement.

Accounts that remain unverified for several months will eventually be locked, but all remaining eWallet balances can be refunded upon request, ensuring users’ funds are not lost or affected.
