KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 13): Invest Selangor Bhd said on Friday that potential deals worth up to RM3.2 billion were recorded during the fourth edition of its Selangor Aviation Show (SAS) in September.

"This milestone marks the largest in SAS history and highlights the event’s pivotal role in shaping the future of the aerospace industry," the state government agency said in a statement.

Invest Selangor said the three-day event also saw the signing of 41 memorandums of understanding (MOUs) between local companies and international entities from Singapore, China, the Czech Republic and Thailand.

“These MOUs span various strategic areas, including the development of Selangor Aero Park, advancements in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), electric aviation, workforce training, aerospace research and expanded Maintenance, Repair and Operations (MRO) capabilities,” the agency added.

In collaboration with the Social Security Organisation (Perkeso), the event also featured a career fair involving 37 aviation and aerospace companies with over 222 jobseekers securing employment, Invest Selangor noted.

It added that the event, held at the SkyPark Regional Aviation Centre in Subang on Sept 12-14, attracted 29,638 visitors, surpassing Invest Selangor's target of 25,000 and significantly higher than the 19,217 visitors recorded last year.

“The event saw a diverse range of participants, including 129 exhibitors, speakers and visitors from 39 countries. Attendees witnessed an impressive display of 40 aircraft, including 31 Malaysian-owned planes and nine international models from India, France and Singapore. Among the highlights were the Falcon 8X, Dornier 228, Honda HA-420 HondaJet and Diamond aircraft series,” the agency said.

Looking ahead, Invest Selangor said the fifth edition of SAS would explore new locations to better serve its audience and broaden its focus to encompass a diverse aviation ecosystem.

This expansion will include MRO, business aviation and commercial aviation, sports aviation, search and rescue operations, drones, helicopters, space development and supporting services such as F&B, talent development and airport operations, it added.
