KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 12): Upholstery furniture manufacturer Homeritz Corp Bhd (KL:HOMERIZ) has reported a fire incident at one of its production facilities in Muar, Johor, with the financial impact of the incident still under evaluation.
The company said fire, which broke out at 8am on Thursday, affected one of the spraying lines and work-in-progress inventory while damage from the incident was confined to one block of the furniture factory building. The premises are owned by EISB, a wholly owned subsidiary of the group.
“Other production facilities and factory buildings were not affected, and production activities are continuing as normal. The management of the company and EISB will ascertain the actual extent and quantum of the losses caused by the incident,” said Homeritz in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.
The company said it will mitigate production disruptions by using a spraying line at another factory building located within the same district as the affected facility, to compensate for the temporary loss in capacity.
Shares in Homeritz closed one sen or 1.63% lower at 60.5 sen on Thursday, giving the company a market capitalisation of RM280.26 million. Year-to-date, the counter has appreciated by over 16%.
