KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 25): The World Bank Group on Monday named Judith Green as its country manager for Malaysia, a new position representing the multilateral institution’s various entities.
Malaysia is one of offices transitioning to a single country manager for the group comprising the World Bank, International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, International Development Association, International Finance Corporation (IFC), and Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency.
The newly created position will serve a single point of contact for access to World Bank Group products and services, as well as “enhance the institutions’ ability to address global challenges, and drive development with speed, efficiency, and impact”, the World Bank Group said.
“Expanding our engagement with both the public and private sectors under this new leadership approach will enable us to better support Malaysia in its development ambitions,” said Green, who will be based in Kuala Lumpur.
A Jamaican national, Green was most recently the country manager for the Pacific Islands, Papua New Guinea, Australia and New Zealand at World Bank’s IFC. Prior to that, she served as IFC's country manager overseeing the Dominican Republic, Haiti, and the English-speaking Caribbean.
Green also worked with Jamaica's Ministry of Finance and Planning from 2013 to 2016 as a director of the Coordination and Implementation Unit, which was responsible for overseeing the successful implementation of the 2013 four-year extended fund facility with the International Monetary Fund.
