KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 21): Sime Darby Property Bhd (KL:SIMEPROP) is working urgently with authorities to help resolve the recurring flood incidents in Bandar Bukit Raja, said managing director Datuk Seri Azmir Merican.
The company, the developer of the Bandar Bukit Raja township in Klang, has identified several contributing factors to the flash floods, including inadequate infrastructure and natural drainage systems, particularly in Sungai Puloh, he said.
“We are working with authorities and state as well as federal [government],” Azmir told a virtual earnings briefing on Thursday. “We already have identified what’s the reason for the floods, and we need to go down and solve this.”
Azmir noted that Sime Darby Property has gone beyond what was required of the company to mitigate flooding within its developments in the town.
“It is quite urgent, and this is a top priority for us,” he said.
At noon trading break, the property developer was up three sen or 2.11% at RM1.45 on Thursday, valuing the company at RM9.86 billion.
