KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 15): Cypark Resources Bhd (KL:CYPARK) said its floating solar farm at Danau Tok Uban, Kelantan (DTU) — Malaysia's largest — has been approved to start operations on Nov 16, 2024.
The site consists of two interconnected floating solar plants, DTU 1 and DTU 2, with a combined generation capacity of 98 megawatts direct current (MWdc), according to Cypark. They will now commence the transition to full commercial operations, Cypark said in a statement on Friday.
Cypark is the turnkey financier and engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning contractor for the project.
“Cypark Resources is proud to have reached the initial operations date for this innovative floating solar project. Having faced significant delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic and a major relocation from Negeri Sembilan to Kelantan, delivering this project is a new milestone for Cypark and the state of Kelantan," said its executive chair Datuk Ami Moris.
The completion of this large scale solar two or LSS2 floating solar plant was initially set for end-2021, but was postponed to September 2022, and later to end-2023, and then again to the third quarter of this year.
Cypark’s share price closed down half a sen or 0.6% to 83.5 sen, bringing the group a market capitalisation of RM687 million.
