KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 4): The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has denied issuing any statement claiming that RM94 million was discovered in the residence of a former minister.

This follows an allegation by Datuk Awang Solahuddin Hashim (PN-Pendang), who, during the Supply Bill 2025 debate on Monday, claimed that RM94 million was found at the residence of a former human resources minister from the DAP.

"The MACC reiterates that neither the commission nor the chief commissioner has made any statement regarding the discovery of the said amount in the residence of the former minister," the anti-graft agency said in a statement.

The MACC noted that while it respects MPs' right to freely express their views, it is essential that statements are based on accurate information to prevent public confusion.

Earlier in Parliament, a heated exchange ensued across both sides of the aisle after Awang made the allegation, which government backbenchers criticised as "misleading".

When questioned by Deputy Speaker Datuk Ramli Mohd Nor, who was presiding at the time, Awang said his claim was based on "a statement made by the chief commissioner of the MACC" and said he only sought clarification on the status of the investigation.

RSN Rayer (PH-Jelutong) then intervened, urging Awang to retract the allegation and challenging him to repeat his claims outside the House.

Ramli advised lawmakers dissatisfied with Awang’s allegation to file a motion in accordance with the Standing Orders for further action.
