KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 29): Telekom Malaysia Bhd (KL:TM) has appointed Ahmad Fairus Rahim as its new group chief financial officer (CFO), effective Nov 1.

Ahmad Fairus, 45, is succeeding Razidan Ghazalli, 61, who retired on the expiration of his contract after nearly five years in the role, the telecommunications company said in a filing to the exchange on Tuesday.

“Ahmad Fairus has over 20 years of experience delivering high-quality commercial finance and accounting support within the telecommunications industry,” TM said.

He first joined TM in 2001 and rejoined the company in 2018 as general manager of financial planning and analysis, before being made the group financial controller. Prior to his latest promotion, he was deputy group CFO, a post he was promoted to in April 2024.

“His extensive background encompasses long-term strategic planning, merger and acquisition and corporate restructuring, commercial partnership evaluations and capital allocation to drive business growth,” it said.

Ahmad Fairus, who graduated with a bachelor of accounting from the Multimedia University (MMU) Cyberjaya, is also a fellow with the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

Shares of TM closed up one sen or 0.15% to RM6.51 on Tuesday, valuing the group RM24.98 billion. The counter has risen 16.25% year-to-date.
