KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 28): Mah Sing Group Bhd (KL:MAHSING) has signed a second partnership with Bridge Data Centres Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a company wholly owned by Bain Capital, to expand a joint-venture (JV) data centre project named Mah Sing DC Hub@Southville City at the Southville City township in Bangi, Selangor.

A press statement on Monday said the latest partnership will see the two parties developing additional plots of land adjacent to the initial one. The plots span 35.68 acres (14.44 hectares) and are poised to offer 200MW of power capacity.

Earlier this year, the developer earmarked 150 acres of land bank at Southville City for the development of a data centre hub, with a planned capacity of up to 500MW. In May, Mah Sing signed its first JV with Bridge Data Centres to develop 17.55 acres of land, with a planned capacity of up to 100MW. Following the latest JV, Mah Sing DC Hub@Southville City will now have a total planned power capacity of 300MW.

The data centre’s first phase, including both the plots of 17.55 acres and 35.68 acres, is anticipated to commence operation by 2026. Bridge Data Centres will lead the design, construction and infrastructure development in the first phase.

Commenting on the partnership, Mah Sing founder and group managing director Tan Sri Leong Hoy Kum said, “This collaboration underscores Mah Sing’s commitment to building cutting-edge digital infrastructure. Our 30-year track record of rapid project execution makes us the ideal partner for data centre players seeking speed to market and scalability. This is just the beginning of many opportunities for Mah Sing to shape Malaysia’s digital future.”

Representing Bridge Data Centres, its chief executive officer Eric Fan said, “We are excited to expand our collaboration with Mah Sing, which significantly boosts Bridge Data Centre’s capacity resources in Malaysia. This partnership reinforces Bridge Data Centre’s commitment to investing in Malaysia’s digital infrastructure as a leading data centre provider in the region, while consistently delivering exceptional service to our clients.”

The Mah Sing DC Hub@Southville City is located within a 20km proximity to the existing data centre hubs of Cyberjaya and Bukit Jalil. Additionally, it is also less than 50km from Telekom Malaysia Bhd’s (KL:TM) upcoming new cable landing station in Morib, Selangor, enabling it to provide a dark fibre network for the data centre hub.
