KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 28): BlackBerry Ltd has chosen Cyberjaya, Selangor as headquarters for its cybersecurity operations in the Asia-Pacific (Apac), according to a press release on Monday.

Already operational, this regional hub marks a milestone in BlackBerry’s Apac strategy, positioning the company close to emerging technology centres and key government infrastructure.

“Malaysia is a strategically important market for BlackBerry, and we’re proud to base our new Apac headquarters in [Cyberjaya] as part of our regional expansion plans,” said BlackBerry vice president of cybersecurity for Apac, Tash Stamatelos.

This expansion follows BlackBerry’s landmark partnership with the Malaysian government, announced in November 2023.

As part of this partnership, BlackBerry worked with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to establish the Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (CCOE), which serves as a world-class training ground for Malaysia’s cybersecurity professionals.

“This will not only benefit Malaysia, but will enable the region to take advantage of the cutting-edge cybersecurity solutions offered by BlackBerry,” said Malaysian Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

The newly established Cyberjaya office houses a diverse team that includes professionals from sales, marketing, threat research, technical support, administration, and cybersecurity training.
