KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 16): The National Water Services Commission (Span) said it is developing a "strategic plan" to address governance issues involving recent cases in the water supply service industry, according to a statement on Wednesday.
As the regulatory authority under the Water Services Industry Act 2006 (Act 655), Span said it maintains a "zero tolerance" policy towards corruption and abuse of power.
"Span is dedicated to fair and transparent regulation, adhering to Act 655, integrity standards, and best ethical practices," it said.
"To continue previous efforts like the Integrity and Anti-Corruption Framework for Licensees and Certification Agencies, Span will collaborate with experts to enhance the framework, and develop a strategic plan focused on governance and anti-corruption."
Span said it aims to establish best practices, ensure transparency, particularly in procurement processes, and enforce strict actions against non-compliance with Act 655 and Span's regulations.
