KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 4): Renewable energy company Solar District Cooling Group Bhd (KL:SDCG) announced on Friday its plans to expand its solar and energy efficiency services into Brunei. 

Its wholly owned subsidiary, Solar District Cooling Sdn Bhd, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Brunei-based Serikandi Oil Field Services Sdn Bhd to explore collaboration opportunities, its bourse filing showed.  

Solar District Cooling said the partnership aims to enhance business prospects in Brunei, particularly in solar-powered air-conditioning, solar thermal systems and energy-efficient solutions. 

The collaboration will also cover the provision and maintenance of building management systems, gas-fired chillers and chilled water systems.

Solar District Cooling managing director Edison Kong said the partnership provides a platform to share knowledge and foster innovation in the renewable energy space, driving sustainable practices in the region.

Meanwhile, Serikandi director Shaikh Khalid Shaikh Ahmad noted that the collaboration positions both companies to meet the growing demand for sustainable energy and improved operational efficiency in Brunei.

The MOU is expected to facilitate the exchange of information, expertise and exploration of potential business opportunities in the country and valid until Oct 3, 2026, Solar District Cooling noted. 

Shares of Solar District Cooling remained unchanged at 46.5 sen on Friday, giving the company a market capitalisation of RM197.08 million. 

Since its listing on the ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia on Sept 19, the stock has gained over 22%.
