KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 2): Shares in digital solutions provider Pertama Digital Bhd (KL:PERTAMA) fell to their lowest in close to two years on Wednesday, prompting Bursa Securities to suspend the counter’s intraday short-selling (IDSS).

The stock closed at its intraday low of RM1.60 — its lowest since November 2022 — after dropping 35 sen or 17.95%, with 11.45 million shares changing hands.

The share price decline has wiped out Pertama’s market capitalisation by RM153.39 million to RM701.14 million. It is down 38.7% so far this year.

IDSS for Pertama will resume on Thursday (Oct 3) at 8.30am.

It was not known at press time what could have triggered the decline in the stock. Pertama announced the departure of two directors: its non-independent non-executive director Tan Sri Dr Nik Norzrul Thani and executive director Mohd Reza Mohd Hatta. Both said they want to pursue their own interests.

Earlier, the group also announced the plan to acquire a privately held system integration services and technical consultancy services provider, Kridentia Tech Sdn Bhd, in an all-shares deal. It did not disclose the transaction value.

Nik Norzrul is the third-largest shareholder of Pertama with an 11.44% stake. He is also the acting executive chairman of energy services firm T7 Global Bhd (KL:T7GLOBAL).

Perfect Hexagon Commodity & Investment Bank Ltd — controlled by Sim Tze Shiong — is the largest shareholder of Pertama with a 22.78% stake, while Kenanga Investors Bhd holds a 22.47% stake.
