EVENING 5: Govt to audit 2,000 GLCs next year

Here’s a quick look at some of the stories that made headlines today.

Dirty dealings. Corporate battles. Consumer woes. Here are five things you need to know today.

1. The National Audit Department will be auditing 2,000 government-linked companies beginning next year, in an effort to create a new era of enhanced governance in Malaysia, said Auditor General Datuk Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi.

2. Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd posted a net profit of RM54.71 million in the second quarter, its best quarterly results since the quarter ended January 2023.

3. Kawan Food Bhd said it is closing its manufacturing facility in China, due to the impact of US tariffs and limited room for expansion.

4. The Malaysia Competition Commission said on Monday investigation found 81 enterprises allegedly involved in a price-fixing agreement for the provision of Umrah travel services.

5. Yinson Holdings Bhd’s net profit fell 11.74% to RM203 million in the second quarter, on the back of lower revenue and as finance costs more than doubled.
