KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 13): Animal health and nutrition products manufacturer Yenher Holdings Bhd (KL:YENHER) has signed a cooperation and shareholders’ agreement with Denmark-based Fermentationexperts A/S to manufacture, market and sell plant proteins and fermented palm kernel meal.

A joint venture (JV) company named YH European Protein Asia Sdn Bhd will be set up to sell livestock and aquaculture products under the brand of "European Protein" in SouthEast Asia and Taiwan, Yenher said in an exchange filing. Yenher will hold a 60% stake in the JV, with the remaining 40% held by Fermentationexperts.

The JV will focus on converting plant byproducts such as soybean, rapeseed, and seaweed meal into high-value, sustainable feed ingredients. The company’s patented products and proprietary know-how will be licensed to the joint venture, with a US$2 million (RM8.8 million) license agreement.

Fermentationexperts principally involved in the production of fermented and subsequently dried protein feed that can be used as a better and less expensive source of protein for livestock and aquaculture.

The JV will initially convert an existing facility in Simpang Ampat, Penang, into a GMP+ certified plant that are expected to cost about RM75 million to produce the feed solutions.

"The next stage is to develop another dedicated palm kernel meal plant," Yenher said in a separate statement. The joint venture is expected to create 16 high-skilled and managerial roles in Malaysia and operations are expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2025, it noted.

Shares of Yenher ended Friday at 85 sen, giving the company a market capitalisation of RM253 million.
