KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 28): S&P Global Ratings has assigned its “A-” long-term foreign-currency issue rating to Khazanah Capital Ltd's proposed US dollar-denominated 10-year notes.

Khazanah Capital is a wholly owned financing subsidiary of sovereign wealth fund Khazanah Nasional Bhd.

S&P noted in a statement on Wednesday that the notes will be drawn down from Khazanah Capital's existing US$10 billion (RM43.42 billion) euro medium-term note programme, which is also rated 'A-'.

“Since Khazanah Capital's primary function is to raise debt on the group's behalf, we view it as a core group member,” said the rating agency.

“This leads us to equalise the rating on the notes with the rating on Khazanah Nasional. In addition, Khazanah Nasional will guarantee the notes,” added S&P.
