KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 2): AwanBiru Technology Bhd (KL:AWANTEC), a cloud-based service provider, is supplying Google Workspace Enterprise Starter licence to Sabah Net Sdn Bhd (SNSB) for RM9.97 million.

Awantec told Bursa Malaysia on Friday that its wholly owned subsidiary Awantec Systems Sdn Bhd had inked a service agreement with SNSB for subscription of the Google Workspace Enterprise Starter licence.

The agreement is for a five-year period from Aug 1, 2024 to July 31, 2029. SNSB will purchase at least 10,384 units of the Google licences annually at the start of each year.

SNSB is wholly owned by the state government of Sabah, and is tasked with spearheading the state’s digital transformation within the public sector. KKIP Sdn Bhd and Smart Sabah Corporation Sdn Bhd own 30% and 70% of SNSB, respectively.

In August 2021, Awantec’s subsidiary Awantec Systems Sdn Bhd was elevated to Google’s Premier Level Partner in Malaysia. The partnership with Google allows Awantec to be part of the government’s Cloud Framework Agreement (CFA) signed in May 2022. The CFA is one of the main thrusts to drive digital transformation within the public sector, especially by utilising the cloud network.

At the close of trade on Friday, Awantec’s share price was down 1.5 sen or 3.7% at 39 sen, valuing the company at RM308.09 million.
