SUBANG JAYA (July 9): Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil is calling for artificial intelligence (AI) to be used in improving and speeding up the process of the Auditor General's Report.
Fahmi said the government is exploring potential technology solutions that can help implement faster reporting mechanisms or leverage AI technology to improve the country's auditing system.
“I welcome and celebrate any efforts, ideas and suggestions. If there are ways in which the government can embrace technology, such as AI to enhance governance processes, please let us know. I'm very open to bringing [this] to the Parliament,” Fahmi said during the CelcomDigi Bhd (KL:CDB) experience centre launch on Tuesday.
According to him, the government is turning to digital innovation to increase efficiency and streamline the administration's productivity.
"By leveraging Al to automate processes such as data entry, application processing, record management, and storage, we can not only save time and resources, but also reduce the likelihood of human error," he noted.
The Auditor General and Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of parliament released their reports separately last week, highlighting issues of mismanagement, poor governance and leakages in government projects and agencies.
Among the concerns raised are the Human Resources Development Corp’s unusual transactions, Mass Rapid Transit Line’s failure to meet its targets for daily ridership, and Mara Inc Sdn Bhd’s ineffective execution of property management activities.
