KUALA LUMPUR (July 5): Cables and wires manufacturer Southern Cable Group Bhd (KL:SCGBHD) has secured a RM99.6 million contract extension to supply underground power cables and conductors of various sizes to utility giant Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB)(KL:TENAGA).
The contract was awarded to the group’s wholly owned subsidiary Southern Cable Sdn Bhd, and will boost the total value of the group’s ongoing supply agreement with TNB to RM854.3 million.
With the latest contract win, Southern Cable’s order book now exceeds RM1.0 billion, providing strong revenue visibility until 2026. These orders include cables, wires, rectifier and battery systems, and other related products.
“We are committed to supporting TNB’s development initiatives through our cable and wire solutions that enable grid expansion, renewable energy integration, and modernisation efforts,” said Southern Cable managing director Tung Eng Hai in a statement.
Tung is optimistic that the growing demand for cables and wires, driven by increasing activity in data centres, manufacturing, construction and infrastructure, presents significant growth opportunities, and that their robust production capacity ensures a reliable supply to support these sectors.
At noon break on Friday, Southern Cable’s shares were traded one sen or 1.03% lower at 96.5 sen, giving the group a market capitalisation of RM801.69 million. The counter has risen over 129.76% since the beginning of the year.
